Okay Ladies. We all know that eyebrow styles can come and go. Remember the high arches of the 40's and Madonna's bushiness that was the rave in the 90's. Some eyebrow shaping trends deserve mention while others simply do not.

What needs to be remembered when wanting to try a new eyebrow style is that every face is unique. So what looks good on Julia Roberts won't necessarily look right on you.

Achieving the perfect eyebrow shape is such an essential beauty step that it's unthinkable to skip it. The well-groomed eyebrow can not only make you look years younger, it is the ultimate frame for your face.

There are a few simple rules to follow when shaping your eyebrows. Here are some tips to get you started:

1. It's best to start by determining a few things about your face shape. If your face is really round, you will want a stronger arch to give an angle to your face. It can help to minimize the roundness. On the other end, if you have a strong angular face, a very subtle arch will be a better beauty choice. If you aren't sure about the shape of your face stand in front of a mirror with your hair pulled back and outline the shape of your face with lipstick. Stand back and see if the shape looks round, oval, square or heart shape.

2. The next step is to mark some landmarks on your face. Start by putting a dot in the middle, between your eyes. I like to use a dark eye lining pencil. It enables me to see the markings. Then, measure from the outside corner of your nose, inner corner of your eye and up to the eyebrow area. That should be where your brow starts. If you have close set eyes, starting your brow a little outside this line can flatter you. Vice Versa, if your eyes are wide set, keep your brows a little closer together. The basic rule of thumb is: There should be one "eye" width between your two brows.

3. To find the spot where your brows should end, take an orange stick and put one end in the middle of your lip and angle toward the outside edge of your eyebrows. Make sure to touch the outside edge of your nose while you angle toward your brow tail. Where the stick hits your eyebrow is where it should stop. Make a mark here.

4. Now you can make a mark for your arch. Take the orange stick again and look in mirror. Hold the stick vertically along the outside edge of the iris(colored portion) of your eye. Place a mark at the top of your brow where the stick hits it. This should be the area of your arch.

5. Pick a good set of tweezers and pluck any hairs that fall outside of your designated markings. It's best not to take hair from the top of your brow. To shape the arch, remove stray hairs from the underneath area of your eyebrow. Be careful not to take off too much hair especially at the bulb area. You don't want to end up with the golf club brow!

6. Look to make sure the tail of your brow is not lower than the bulb. It should be at the same level as the lower edge of the bulb of your eyebrow.

Following these simple eyebrow shaping tips will help you achieve the best frame for your face and can open the area around your eyes to make you appear younger and less tired looking. It's one of the cheapest and easiest beauty secrets around.
