The prom is one of the biggest events in a young woman's life. You want to look absolutely perfect. From the dress, to the hair, to the prom makeup, it's imperative that all these things come together to compliment each other.
You want your look to be flawless and that starts with your makeup.
Everyone has different styles. What works for one person may not work for another but there are some simple rules to follow so that you will be absolutely beautiful on your prom night.
First of all, be yourself. You will be miserable and uncomfortable if you normally wear very little makeup and decide to go crazy and cake it on for prom. That wouldn't be natural for you. The idea of makeup is to enhance the features you have. A lot of girls will make the mistake of applying their prom makeup completely different than how they normally wear it. The idea is to look like a glammed up version of you. Don't go overboard and practice your look before the big night.
To get the right prom makeup you should take cues from your dress. If it's a really flamboyent dress, your makeup should be low-key. Keep your eyeshadow more natural and use a light, shimmery lip gloss. Keep your makeup within your skin tones to look your best. You don't need to match your eyeshadow to your dress. Instead, use a color that compliments your eyes and skin tones. Keep it simple.
If you have an under-stated dress, you can play up your makeup a bit, though it's best to only go darker on either your eyes or your lips. Not both! For example, if you want dramatic red lipstick, opt for lighter eyeshadow. If you do both, it can be a bit overpowering.
For a few weeks before prom, make sure you're following a good skin care regimen. It can take a while to get your skin clear so this is something you should be doing well in advance. Also, drink lots of water. This is extremely important for glowing, healthy skin. Water helps to flush out toxins and keeps your skin well-hydrated.
Keep your skin moisturized and make sure your foundation matches your skin tone. You don't want big makeup lines around your neck. Check your foundation in natural daylight to ensure it blends well.
To get a shimmery, dewey look, try using a mineral foundation. They are extremely light and a little goes a long way. They are perfect for sensitive skin and will reflect light off of your face. Just make sure to try it before the big night so you know if it's right for you.
If you want some added color to your face, a bronzer can be used. Get a wide fluffy makeup brush to apply the bronzer. A small brush can give splotchy results. Bronzer should be used after you have applied your other makeup. Use it to achieve a sun-kissed glow to areas that would normally be exposed to sunlight. Just make sure it's not too heavy.
Long-lasting lipstick will give you kissable lips all night. Once applied, it stays on for hours. You only need to add lip gloss!
Get beautiful prom makeup with these simple steps and have the night of your dreams.
